Two Years Later

Jessica stood there in the battle arena of the Pokemon League. Facing her challenger for the Champion title who had finally defeated Lance. Trainers and other Pokemon fans sat in the stands surrounding the arena. Watching the intense battle that was taking place. Some of them cheering for Jessica, while others chanted the name of the challenger facing her.

The battle was long. Both Trainer's Pokemon giving it their all for their Trainer. Eventually, both Trainers were down to their final Pokemon. Their Pokemon tired and ready to give, any moment.

Jessica was down to her unique Pikachu, Thunder. Her opponent was down to his Feraligatr. Jessica was surprised how well Ethan Gold was in his skills as a Trainer. She hadn't felt the rush of possibly losing since her battle with her father, Giovanni, three years ago. Even with her on a type advantage against Ethan, he was on the verge of winning; just as much as she was.

But this battle doesn't require me to win, she thought. Closing her eyes to take a deep breath. Exhaling slowly. You were meant to lose, sooner or later...

"Feraligatr! Use Superpower!" Ethan shouted.

Feraligatr's muscles flexed as a large mass of energy radiated off of him. Causing large chunks of the arena to break apart and float around him. Feraligatr continued to glare at Thunder.

Jessica snapped her eyes open. "Thunder!" she called out. "Use Thunder Punch!"

The electricity that escaped Thunder's cheeks began to gather at his right fisted-paw. He then zipped towards Ethan's Feraligatr. His right arm drawn back to deliver the punch when he'd get close enough. But he was still too far away and too exhausted to move quickly enough.

Feraligatr sent the large chunks of stone at Thunder as the Electric Mouse rushed towards the Big Jaw Pokemon. The chunks of stone connected at almost blinding speed and sent Thunder flying back towards his Trainer. Landing on the floor at Jessica's feet.

After a few seconds of looking at Thunder, the referee turned his gaze to Ethan and held his hand out towards his end of the arena. "Thunder is unable to battle!" he announced. "Ethan's Feraligatr wins!"

After a split second of silence, the crowd roared with excitement. Sure, some of them were disappointed that Jessica had lost, but they were all still excited for how intense the battle had been. Jessica was always going to be remembered, and still carried the title of "Legendary Trainer" with her no matter where she'd go. She already made a name for herself. It was time someone else did, for a change.

Jessica picked Thunder up and smiled down at him. "You did great, Thunder," she told him softly.

"Chuu..." Thunder trailed off in a tired voice as he looked up at his Trainer before lifting his head up, slightly, and licking her cheek.

Jessica turned her attention towards Ethan, who was still jumping with his own bit of excitement for winning. Jessica chuckled with amusement before she walked over to him. Causing Ethan to pause from his moment and look at her when she finally reached him.

"Congratulation on becoming the Champion to the Kanto and Johto regions," she told him. Cradling Thunder in one arm while she held her hand out to shake his. "You raised your Pokemon very well."

"Thanks," Ethan said as he took Jessica's hand and shook it once. "You're not bad, yourself, hot stuff."

Jessica chuckled, again, as she released Ethan's hand. "You're too young for my standards, Ethan," she informed him. "Save the flattery for someone who cares about you in that manner."

Ethan laughed. "I'm not that much younger than you," he told her, "but I guess you have a point, there."

Jessica patted Ethan on his shoulder. "Good. Now come with me," she instructed. "We have to register your acknowledgement of defeating me in the log before you start your interviews with the news crews that'll be showing up."

Ethan nodded and then began following Jessica towards the back room that was behind her. "You know..." he began as he walked, "I'm surprised."

"Surprised about what?" Jessica inquired as she entered the back room. Leading him down the long hallway.

"Most Trainers get so upset when they lose," Ethan explained, "but you didn't. It's shocking."

"That's because I'm not meant to keep winning," she informed him. "I'm expected to lose, eventually. There will always be someone out there who is better than you. And the title of Champion isn't meant to only be mine. It's meant for everyone who trains hard enough."

Ethan nodded in understanding as they walked up to a machine that looked a lot like the same machine Nurse Joy would use in the Pokemon Center to heal the Pokemon if they didn't need emergency care. Jessica turned to look at Ethan and smiled.

"This is the Hall of Champions," she informed him. "Only Champions and former Champions are allowed to enter this room. Place your Pokemon in the machine and they will be recorded as the team you used to defeat me and become Champion."

Ethan looked at Jessica for a moment before he nodded and took his Poke Balls off of his belt and placed them in the machine.
***ATTENTION***
The picture is not mine!! I found this picture while searching for "Groudon Kyogre Rayquaza" pictures on Photobucket. It's official artwork by Game Freak for Pokemon Emerald.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! PROFACE!!!:iconexcitedblushplz:

Okay, so I'm sure you all are wondering why I chose a picture with the three main Legendary Pokemon as apposed to a picture of the main Pokemon Trainers, like I have done before. Well, there is a very logical explanation for that:

:bulletblack: Because I would have needed a picture of Red, Blue (Green), Ethan, Lyra, Silver, May, Brendan, and Wally if I was going to use a picture with Trainers on it. And since it's difficult to find a picture like that in any browser for pictures on any site I've been to, I settled for this one. If anyone would like to draw me a picture of these listed Trainers for this generation, that would be awesome. It would be even cooler if you'd draw the picture with Jessica included, but if no one wants to, then this is what you'll have to go with.

:bulletred: Because Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza are apart of the main story for the games. So why not have them as the preview art for this fan fiction if I can't find the picture of the Trainers I'd need? It works, doesn't it?

So, those are my reasons for having the suddenly new preview look for the fan fiction as apposed to the Trainers. I hope you all enjoyed the proface, though.:meow: After all, Primal Emerald is starting with Jessica losing a Pokemon battle, and of all the battles to lose, she loses the title of Champion. Awww...sad face.................. OH WELL!!:dummy:
